There are so many different ways to go about stylizing your wedding. Trends come and go and some never leave. There is the classic theme of all white flowers and crystal to the rustic, country vibe which has been a favorite for a while now. I wanted to see what was new and exciting in the Wedding World, so I decided to do a little research!
One trend that keeps popping up and stood out to me was the idea of using marble. White marble to be exact. Marble can be incorporated into everything from your table numbers, favors for guests and the cake! I came across beautiful marble table runners, candle holders, dishes and signage for your wedding day. I really like this trend. It gives your decor a chic, timeless look that will go with any other colors you decide to use.
Along with the marble was another trend I came across, and that is using copper and geometric designs in your decor. The copper complements the white marble perfectly and adds such a clean, simple feel to the atmosphere that’s not overwhelming. The geometric designs can be incorporated into dishes, lanterns, vases and again, the cake! I found that natural stones and geodes are also extremely popular right now. I love this look. It’s interesting and different and adds a touch of whimsy.
On the other side of everything being stone and metal, is the ethereal trend. AKA, the Bohemian Wedding. This involves lots of greenery in place of flowers, which is also more cost effective. The focal point of the ethereal trend is a lot of candles, fairy lights hanging from the walls and ceiling and big, bright wildflower bouquets. Bright colored flowers in a more non-traditional, messy bouquet seem to be the latest trend. A really cool idea I found is the Wedding Wreath! This is a circle arch made from leaves, flowers, vines or whatever you want! This is in place of the more traditional Ceremony Arch.
Now, onto the food. Comfort food seems to be the go-to lately for wedding receptions, which I’m not mad about. Who doesn’t love macaroni and cheese?! Table service has also gone in a new direction with the popularity of food bars. These are especially fun for cocktail hour and dessert time. Which leads us to the doughnut bar. Yes, doughnuts. Doughnut stations are all the rage, some people are even opting for doughnut cakes! The most fun idea I saw was a doughnut wall. It’s literally a wall of doughnuts, all displayed on pegs and you just help yourself!
Another fun idea is converting vintage campers or carts into drink stations for craft beers, gin drinks or Prosecco.
So, if you’re in the beginning stages of planning your 2018 Wedding, here are a few ideas to consider!
